Education
After School Education (HOPE Program)
Services linked with the
Vancouver School District that provide for transportation to school, help with homework, and tutoring for OHM school-age children. Statistics show that, on average, children lose 3-6 months of education each time they are uprooted and transferred to a new school district. Children participating in this program have the opportunity to make up for lost time.
A HOPE Program liaison works to inform parents of their rights under the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 and also acts as a mediator between parents and the school district to ensure that the children's needs are met.
Educational Enrichment
Helps prepare residents to obtain their GED and/or to pursue educational goals. Through a partnership with the
Clark College Foundation, residents attend GED classes on site and receive one-on-one tutoring to provide an atmosphere of success.
